| ' |
DRS held their open day
at Crewe Gresty Bridge depot this Saturday, giving people an insight into
their relatively new site. Centre to the event was the naming of 47501
and 47832 which saw 47501 regain its original name of
'Craftsman' and 47832 named 'Solway Princess' after a competition
in Rail Express. 19/07/08 |
The open day gave one
final chance for a look at the short lived Stobart liveried 47832
which was due to have its vinyls removed immediately after the event
following the announcement that the Stobart Pullman was ceasing to
operate. 19/07/08 |

overhaul at Brush Traction, the former 'Sir Murray Morrison' is now a
favourite for Network Rail inspection saloon moves. 08/07/08 |
Recently extracted from storage at Barry WRD, 57002 is awaiting its turn for a repaint and return to service work. The two Advenza Freight machines and OOS 57001 excepted, DRS are now the operator of the full fleet of non-ETS fitted Clas 57s. 21/06/08 |

Former Canton 'pet'
08951 stands in Cardiff Tidal Yard awaiting shunting duties. Fitted
with remote control, this pilot (and the others in Tidal Yard) are
controlled by one person with a console similar to a remote control car
which allows control of everything on the loco - including the horn! 22/06/08 |
Another one from the
recent Keighley gala now and looking superb in a pair, 20110 and
20087 back onto their train at Oxenhope, whilst 31108 lurks in

Direct Rail Services,
continuing a 10 year tradition, once again supplied the Keighley and Worth
Valley Railway with a visiting loco for its diesel gala. The loco in
question, 37087, was named after the railway and is seen here at
Oxenhope with an arrival from Keighley on the Friday. 06/06/08 |
Having received a total
repaint plus black headcode boxes 37087 stands in the sun at
Keighley waiting its next turn. 08/06/08 |

Resident 25059
joined forces with D7612 from the South Devon Railway in providing
some audio entertainment. The pair are seen here at Oxenhope running round
their train ready to form a service back to Keighley. 08/06/08 |
Another visitor from the
South Devon Railway was the superbly restored 37037, which had a
dual purpose for the weekend; as a loco and a brake translator for
37087 which had no working vacuum brakes. 037 seen her running round
at Oxenhope. 08/06/08 |

Motorail Logistics at
Long Marston held an open day, billed as a 'Farewell to the Class 87s'
before they head off for a new life in Bulgaria. One such loco not heading
abroad is 87002 which is destined for a new lease of life in the
UK. Glistening following a repaint, the rededicated 'Royal Sovereign'
stands next to the line of not so fortunate sisters. 07/06/08 |
87010, the loco
that headed the first Class 87 farewell back in June 2005, stands looking
faded and weatherworn, still with gold buffers and WB stickers - a memory
of its short time home at Wembley. 07/06/08 |

Stored in August 2004,
the former Earl Marischal soaks up the sun at its last public appearance
before heading for a new life abroad. 07/06/08 |

former Broadlands - soaks up the sun in front of 86401 and 87002.

at Kings Cross alongside a more common ECML sight. 24/05/08 |
66728, still
looking semi-smartened up after its naming at March depot, heads through

Crewe. 37401 was 'on the blocks'. 26/04/08 |
Looking absolutely
pristine and a credit to DRS is 37610 seen at Leicester North on
the Great Central Railway during a running day. The loco was present after
a naming ceremony to commemorate former DRS employee Ted Cassady. A
certain red and gold company could do well to follow the visual standards
seen here... 27/04/08 |

Saved from scrap at the
infamous Wigan CRDC, 37240 is now in the safe hands of the

One from a couple of

| 56303 and 45112 - added 17th March 2008 | ||||||
| ' |
A sight not seen and a
sound not heard for a very long time over the Blyth and Tyne. 56125
(or 56303 in new money) made the journey back to an old stomping
ground at the head of Pathfinders 'The Choppington Changer' spin and win
railtour. The fine machine is seen here passing Morpeth. 13/03/08 |
Ever since its mainline
career ended, 45112 has been dumped in various locations and Barrow
Hill is its most recent home where it is seen gathering dust. 13/03/08 |

| Leeds - added 13th March 2008 | ||||||
| ' |
With DRS locos giving

'worst weather of the winter' evidently in full force, 37667 and
37688 approach Carlisle with the second of Spitfire Railtours
successfully run tours - The Cumbrian Coast Explorer - from the West
Midlands. 08/03/08 |
With the rain now
slowing down and sun threatening to break through, the immaculately turned
out 37s stand in Carlisle awaiting a tow from 57601 as part of ECS move to
turn the set ready for the return run. Full credit to the staff at
Kingmoor for the presentation of the pair...
